First West Credit Union is the third-largest credit union in British Columbia by asset size following Vancity and Coast Capital Savings. Led by Chief Executive Officer Launi Skinner and with close to 250,000 members and nearly $11 billion in assets under administration, First West was formed in January 2010 when Envision Financial in Langley amalgamated with Valley First Credit Union based in Penticton. First West Credit Union acquired Enderby & District Credit Union based in Enderby, BC, in 2013. Island Savings joined First West on January 1, 2015. It is insured by the Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.
First West operates 54 branches and 38 insurance offices throughout British Columbia's but none under the First West brand. Instead all branches are grouped within divisions of First West, which retain their pre-merger branding:
- Envision Financial: Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Kitimat, Envision Financial's president is David Lanphear
- Valley First and Enderby & District Financial: Southern interior including the Okanagon and Kamloops. Susan Ewanick is president of the Valley First division and oversees Enderby & District Financial
- Island Savings on Vancouver Island and the southern Gulf Islands of Saltspring Island and Pender Island. Randy Bertsch is president of Island Savings.
First West's other businesses lines include First West Capital, Envision Investment Services, Valley First Investment Services, Envision Insurance Services, Valley First Insurance Services, First West Leasing and Island Savings Insurance Services.

The founding credit unions that merged to form First West have both been recognized in previous years for significant achievements or contributions to their communities. Valley First is recognized for a longstanding tradition of supporting charities, organizations, and events, including, among others, Feed the Valley. For eight years, the Globe and Mail's Report on Business Magazine has named Envision Financial one of the "50 Best Employers in Canada." Island Savings also consistently achieved recognition among Aon Hewitt's "50 Best Employers in Canada." First West is also designated as a Caring Company by Imagine Canada.
